Under Construction!

The Kauai Performing Arts Center (KPAC) is part of The Hawai‘i State Department of Education’s Learning Center Program. The Learning Centers are designed to expand educational opportunities for students with special talents and interests. There are thirty Learning Centers operating in Hawaii’s public schools. Six of these Learning Centers focus on theatre arts.

Participation in KPAC is available to all public school students in grades 6 through 12. Entrance to the program is through audition only. Students receive school credit for participation in KPAC. All KPAC classes take place after regular school hours. The first semester of each year, each of the three middle schools on Kaua‘i produce their own play with public performances each December at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall. High school classes are also offered during the first semester on a rotational basis. Classes in dance, play writing, directing, acting and scene study have been offered in recent years. Workshops in costuming, lighting and set design/construction have also been included in KPAC’s curriculum. The second semester of each school year is devoted to the production of a musical at the high school level.
